Carole Haslock
Carole Haslock has spent most of her life in artistic pursuits. After
earning a Bachelor and Master's Degree from Wayne State University, she
taught high school art in the Detroit metropolitan area. Her medium is
primarily pastel; however, she also works in watercolor and colored
pencil. Since her retirement from teaching, she can devote more time and
energy to her painting. She splits her time between Colorado and Arizona
and her travels have produced a variety of visual impressions. Carole's
subjects focus on florals, landscapes and the interplay of architecture
and the elements of nature. Her love of color and the vibrancy of the
pastels are an exciting blend and evident in her paintings.
Carole has studied with various well-known artists, but most recently
with Susan Voight. The technique she has researched is Pastel Painting
the Degas Way. This allows for the pastel to be steamed and then framed
without glass. Carole taught at the Art Center of Estes Park where
various methods and techniques were explored. Carole is also a Signature
Member of the Pastel Society of Colorado.
One of Carole's most treasured experiences was meeting Harley Brown,
one of The Tucson Seven, and having two of her paintings juried by him
into The Open Market Show in Tubac, Arizona. Her paintings are exhibited
in Estes Park, Colorado, Green Valley and Tubac, Arizona, as well as in
private collections throughout the United States.
